Cole Partners was established in 1998 to evaluate and market alternative investments. The firm offers a variety of strategic marketing, product development, and educational capabilities.

With a team experienced in portfolio management, marketing, institutional sales, and derivatives trading, Cole Partners helps its clients make well informed decisions regarding alternative investments.

Services range from creating and executing strategic marketing plans for single-manager alternative products to assisting traditional groups incorporate alternative investments into their existing product line and sales process. While these functions are similar to those of conventional third party marketers or consultants, we offer clients an involved, highly personal and transparent approach to marketing, due diligence and education about alternative investments. In meeting the educational needs of clients, Cole Partners remains actively involved in alternative investment research and the production of industry-related studies and articles.

Cole Partners is a registered Broker Dealer with the NASD, and a registered Commodities Trading Advisor (CTA) with the NFA.

Brad Cole is the president of Cole Partners, which provides marketing and consultancy services in alternative investments. Brad's professional career spans more than 20 years in the derivatives industry and includes more than 10 years' experience developing and implementing marketing strategies for alternative investment managers. Brad is also the founder of Cole Partners Asset Management, General Partner of the Tellus Natural Resources Funds. He heads the Investment Committee for Tellus, which is a multi advisor fund focusing on opportunities and inefficiencies in the commodities arena.
Prior to founding Cole Partners in 1998, Brad served as the Vice President and Director of Sales and Marketing for Sjo, Incorporated, a Chicago-based alternative investment manager. His experience prior to Sjo includes tenure at Dean Witter, as a broker on the institutional currency futures and options desk, and at Goldman Sachs, as a part of their currency arbitrage group on the International Monetary Market (IMM). Brad received a BA from the University of Illinois.


Mark Preston, Managing Director at Cole Partners directs the firm's sales efforts for single manager and multi-advisors products. He has also performed due-diligence on various alternative investment managers.

Prior to joining Cole Partners, Mark held positions as a proprietary derivatives trader and programmer, a senior financial consultant and a fixed income portfolio manager.

Mark began his career on the Treasury Bond futures desk for Cargill Investor Services at the Chicago Board of Trade. He received a BBA in Finance and Marketing from the University of Wisconsin. Mark is a registered member of the NASD and NFA. He is a member of the Investment Analyst Society of Chicago and a Level II candidate for the CFA program.


Rian Akey Vice President & COO of Cole Partners is responsible for overseeing the firm's research, operations, and compliance.
Rian was hired in 1999 as the firm's director of research. In that capacity, he has guided the firm's analysis and due diligence of investment managers, industry research, and development of proprietary alternative investment curriculum. In 2003 his role was expanded to include business development and operational oversight responsibilities. Rian is a registered member of NASD and NFA and a member of Managed Funds Association. He received a BA cum laude from University of Notre Dame.
Prior to joining Cole Partners, Rian's experience includes tenure in a product development and marketing capacity with Thomson Financial, a Boston, Massachusetts-based financial services firm; and in a marketing role for a Fidelity Investments subsidiary.
Rian is a registered member of the NASD and the NFA and a member of the Managed Funds Association. He received a BA cum laude from the University of Notre Dame.

Lynn Sieben,Vice President for Business Development at Cole Partners.
Prior to joining Cole Partners, Lynn was Director of Marketing for Chromatic Capital Management, a Chicago-based start-up fund, and Manager of Business Development with Access Asset Management, an alternative investment specialist focusing on managed futures strategies. Lynn spent thirteen years at Calyon managing a team of futures commission brokers that created research oriented solutions for the needs of institutional customers.

Lynn has a BA, Magna Cum Laude, and an MBA in Finance from DePaul University. Lynn is a registered member of the NASD and NFA and is a member of the Chicago chapter of 100 Women in Hedge Funds.


Jake Baldridge,CAIA,is responsible for sourcing new managers, performing due diligence on potential managers, and directing the quantitative analysis performed on current and prospective managers.
Jake is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, designated CAIA, and is a registered member of the NASD and NFA. Jake is a candidate for level II of the CFA program. Jake graduated Summa Cum Laude from Albion College in 2005, where he received a BA in Professional Management and Economics from Albion's honors business program, The Carl A.Gerstacker Institute for Professional Management.


Vickie Dorgan,CFA, is the Chief Financial Officer at Cole Partners.
Prior to joining Cole Partners, Vickie spent 10 years at Duff & Phelps, providing business valuation and advisory services, and 12 years at Harris Bank and Bank of Montreal incubating new business. Most recently, Vickie led alternative investment due diligence for a $1.6 billion endowment portfolio.

Vickie is a Chartered Financial Analyst, designated CFA, and a Certified Trust and Financial Analyst, designated CTFA. Vickie received both an AB in Economics, with Honors, and an MBA, Specialization in Finance and Concentration in Accounting, from the University of Chicago. Vickie also attended London Business School.


Barbra Hollander brings a new perspective to Cole Partners in her role as Office Administrator. She plays a vital role in providing executive assistance, managing day to day operations, interacting with clients, implementing marketing initiatives and web site management. A graduate of University of Illinois at Chicago in 2003, her experience has focused on marketing and customer service positions within a range of fields including theatre, hospitality and event planning.

Paul Sylvia,CFA,is senior analyst with Cole Partners. his responsibilities include sourcing managers, conducting due diligence, portfolio analysis, and macroeconomic research.
Prior to joining Cole Partners, Paul spent four years at HFR Asset Management, managing several fund of hedge funds portfolios and leading a team of risk analysts. Paul also spent three years at Northern Trust Company, serving as an analyst for both the family business division and the personal investment management group.

Paul is a Chartered Financial Analyst, designated CFA and a member of the Chicago CFA Society, Paul graduated with a BA in Finance from Augustana College, Rock Island in 1999.
